Hyatt Regency Sancturay
Years ago I was at Sanctuary Cove for a shoot and thought what a great place to take kids, which was odd as I didn't have any. Fast-forward a few years to now the memory has come in handy when navigating the ocean of possibilities on the Gold Coast accommodation front. The aspect most delightful is not being in the heart of Surfers, which can be like holidaying at the Royal show. The Hyatt Regency splits the difference between being kid friendly yet still very grown up. It's like holidaying on a lagoon in Fiji with white sand and aqua water making it a child's paradise. Like a good German tourists each morning we threw our books on a sun lounge and went for the buffet breakfast, which was spectacular and had me eating for two despite not being pregnant. Cocktails by the pool and catching up on some holiday reading whilst the kids spent hours in the pool made for the perfect relaxing break. The other great aspect of Sanctuary Cove is the village giving you other dining options. We had a sensational lunch at Georges Seafood restaurant where we enjoyed Morton bay bugs, king prawns, Barramundi and squid. Our table was over looking the water and our girls took delight in feeding the fish.(though I'm not sure hot chips are really part of the food chain) We were at the tail end of their holiday program but our girls did get to enjoy one night at the kids club which entailed watching a movie, arts and crafts and Nintendo Wii whilst we got to enjoy dinner at 'The fireplace' without a chorus of 'can we go now.' The rooms are big with a balcony and in our case a view over the river. There's a whole range of activities like golf and fishing and you are just minutes from some of the biggest gold coast attractions like 'Dream world' and White water world'. I have some back, relaxed, recharged and ready ... to go back!
